Muay Thai uses stand up striking techniques including punches, kicks, knees & elbows along with clinching techniques. At Training Grounds Drummoyne we have a more MMA focus on techniques which is very dependent on kicks, knees & elbows.

What to expect at your first Muay Thai class

A Muay Thai class starts with a warm-up designed to get you moving and developing skills through drills which are essential to Muay Thai. More than likely you haven’t done some of these movements before, that’s okay, this class is designed for beginners.

The class will then split into pairs where pads are used to practice kicks, punches and other techniques. The coach will demonstrate each technique and will offer guidance and help through out.

Preparing for your first class

Meeting the coach

Once you have filled out the free trial form/waiver the coach will contact you for an introduction. The coach will then meet you 15 minutes before the class, introduce him or her self in person and help you get ready.

What to wear/bring

  • Gym gear and a shirt
  • Hair elastic for long fair
  • Remove any jewellery before class
  • We will supply boxing gloves if you don’t own a pair
  • please cut finger and toe nails
